Putin's Friend In America's Backyard Alleges Conspiracy After Mega Power Blackout

Russia and Venezuela Spar Over Mega Power Outage

After a massive power outage plunged much of Venezuela into darkness, finger-pointing and accusations have emerged, including claims of conspiracy from an ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

On Sunday, Diosdado Cabello, a prominent Venezuelan politician and close associate of President Nicolas Maduro, alleged that the power failure was not an accident but a deliberate attack orchestrated by the United States.

Cabello, who serves as president of Venezuela's Constituent Assembly, claimed that the outage was part of a plan by the US to destabilize Venezuela and undermine Maduro's government.

Russian Support

Russia, a staunch ally of Venezuela, has echoed these allegations. The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying that the power outage was "a provocation aimed at exacerbating the already difficult socio-economic situation in Venezuela."

The Russian statement also accused the US of "meddling in the internal affairs" of Venezuela and called for an independent investigation into the power outage.

US Denies Involvement

The US has denied any involvement in the power outage, calling the allegations "baseless" and "irresponsible." State Department spokesperson Ned Price said that the US respects Venezuela's sovereignty and has no interest in interfering in its internal affairs.

The power outage, which began on Saturday, has affected most of Venezuela, including the capital, Caracas. The blackout has disrupted transportation, communications, and access to essential services, such as water and healthcare.

Venezuela Investigates Cause

Venezuelan authorities are investigating the cause of the power outage, with some officials suggesting that it was caused by a fire at a major hydroelectric dam.

The power outage has highlighted the fragile state of Venezuela's infrastructure and the challenges faced by Maduro's government, which has been accused of mismanagement and corruption.
